Training For Good Citizenship
- Students will be trained to understand the Republic in which
we live, and the democratic processes which give it form and
life, with the recognition that all authority is ordained
of God. This will be done by providing courses in American
History and Government, based upon its early Christian influence,
as contrasted with its present-day characteristics. There
will be instruction about the American free enterprise system
as originally conceived, and about classical economics as
the forerunner of that system, together with analyses of changes
in the system which have taken place during recent years.
Bridgemont High will also teach respect for country through
various patriotic observances, and will also promote love
of freedom and loyalty to country, as opposed to love of security
and loyalty to the world.
Building
Sound Social Relationships
- At Bridgemont High, great emphasis will be given to the
development of strong social relationships which grow out
of the recognition that each human being is created in the
image of God.
Students therefore will be taught to have a healthy self-image,
as well as to have a loving and affectionate appreciation
for other individuals, even though they may be different.
They will be encouraged to live in concern for all others,
as well as themselves, and society in general. Much attention
will be given to training students to have respect for their
parents, country, family and adult authority. Respect for
peer group over parents will be discouraged, as well as disrespect
for parents, country, family, and adult authority. Bridgemont
High will establish and enforce modes of dress that will reflect
the underlying atmosphere of decency, respect, and dignity
that will pervade the entire school. Neither slovenly attire
nor dirty appearances will be permitted; likewise, extreme
grooming (or no grooming) and bad taste in clothing will not
be allowed.
Training the Spirit
and the Heart - There will
be continual stressing and emphasizing of spiritual growth
at Bridgemont High, so that the students in attendance will
be able to develop the necessary foundations on which to build
a complete life, as life is viewed in the Christian faith.
To this end, Bridgemont High will provide opportunities for
training the spirit and the heart, and for developing the
students affection for God. This will be accomplished by having
instruction in the Bible as the Word of God, and wherever
appropriate, the relation of Gods Word to the subject matter
in the classroom.
All of this will be encouraged by permitting and promoting
personal time for prayer and meditation on Gods Word, and
by having corporate prayer and Bible reading in the classroom
and in chapel services.

| The
Mission:
Bridgemont
provides a college preparatory academic program committed
to Christ-centered, biblically based education focused on
the development of the whole person.
The instructional staff at Bridgemont are selected for their
superior teaching abilities, as well as for their commitment
to live Christ-centered lives, thus teaching the students
by way of example.
Objectives
and Purposes:
Academic and Intellectual Growth
- The primary emphasis at Bridgemont High will be to develop
the full capabilities of the students, with great stress on
achievement and development of their highest possible potential.
There will also be additional emphasis on the development
of the students desire to learn and to accomplish, so that
they may discover the positive results of creative and productive
application of effort by self motivation. Students will also
be taught to work independently, but cooperatively, and to
think for themselves in order to stand firm on their personal
convictions in the face of group or peer pressure. Independence
will be taught, as opposed to interdependence and group conformity.
Building
Character and Sound Values
- Character building and the development of a sound value
system will be a major objective at Bridgemont. This school
will expend a great deal of its training resources in the
development of individual character, founded upon the belief
that man is created in the image of God, and that he may through
proper relationship with God through Jesus Christ, live a
Christ-like life which is filled with virtue and honor. Training
at Bridgemont will encourage single-mindedness in a Bible
based value system, so that each student will know how to
make theistically oriented value judgments that will enable
him or her to cope with a world where values are compromised
at an ever accelerating rate.
Sports
and Physical Education
- At Bridgemont, there are opportunities for students to enjoy
physical education in individual and team sports of various
types throughout the school year. These extra- curricular
sports programs will be entirely voluntary, although certain
types of physical training will be required for boys and girls
in accordance with California law.
As a part of physical training at Bridgemont High, students
will be taught that the human body is the temple of the Holy
Spirit, and for that reason must not be debased by improper
care, use, or impure habits.
